For my first work term I worked with the City of Edmonton Infrastructure Operations in Edmonton Alberta as a Landscape Technician. This placement offered me hands on experience from ground truthing natural areas to assessing natural area management plans throughout the city. The work I completed during my time with the city included making out priority areas for tree risk mitigation work, natural area inspections, identifying ecological enhancement opportunities, and assess ecological situations and what is needed to meet operational needs. Being part of the UBC Forestry Co-op Program has given the the opportunities of hands on work and allowed me to develop the skill sets needed while working in a helpful and enthusiastic environment. I am excited to see what the future of my forestry co-op career holds for me and to continue to expand my job experience thus preparing me for the workplace after graduating.
