As a Naturalist at the Greenheart Treewalk in the UBC Botanical Garden, I get to bring a variety of people through the aerial suspension bridges while getting to talk about some of our native trees and plants. I did drop-in tours as well as field-trip groups and summer camp children and the size of the groups ranged from a single person up to a group of twenty-five! I got the opportunity to enhance my public speaking skills and learn to adjust my content specifically to each group — whether it be for seniors or children in pre-school. To me, co-op means trying something new that may put me out of your comfort zone. Because of this position as a Naturalist, I am more confident in presenting my knowledge and working with a wide audience range.
