For my first co-op work term, I worked at Griff Building Supplies as a sales assistant and project assistant for the Wholesale and Export Department. Griff is not just a lumber trading company. According to our Export Manager, he indicated Griff acts as a solution provider. They provide the correct products based on customers’ designated use of their products. During my time at Griff, I was instructed to work on several projects including monthly inventory reports, Excel workbook automation and continuous template improvements. Some side tasks like improve client’s summary sheet template and filing. Having worked on these projects, I was glad to learn a lot about logistics, lumber price, and international trading. It was an invaluable opportunity to see the works on the lumber market in the industry. This co-op experience has truly benefited my career. I would recommend students to join the co-op program if possible.
