For my winter co-op term I worked with the B.C. Ministry of Forests as an Authorizations Assistant in the Prince George district. Primarily, my job entailed receiving and reviewing permitting documents such as cruise plans and cruise checks. I was also able to exercise effective data management on excel that aimed to describe the level of overlap certain permits had over restricted harvesting areas. During my time with the Ministry I was also able to learn and practice field skills through cruise checks, was able to take a snowmobile safety course, and took workshops on forging and maintaining indigenous relationships. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the Prince George District and feel lucky to have been able to create such wonderful connections, explore a new part of B.C. and all the while continue to learn so much.
