For my third co-op work term, I returned to E.S. Cropconsult Ltd. as an Assistant Supervisor. This includes being part of leading a team of field technicians in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in berry crops throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. Through this position, I have continued to learn the value of clear communication and the ability to problem solve when plans change. I enjoy the opportunity to foster good work ethics and encourage others to go beyond daily responsibilities. Over the last few months, I have participated in cutting edge research that looks at alternatives to chemical controls for critical berry pests. Along with coordinating field technicians, I perform quality control and set up monitoring traps. The sticky trap pictured above is for the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, a new pest of concern in blueberries. I know the skills and experiences I have developed during this work term will give me confidence in pursuing my career goals upon graduation.
