About Sarah Gergel
Dr Gergel is an influential landscape ecologist, known for her research linking landscapes and rivers, and her role in enhancing training in the practice of landscape ecology. Her lab, The Landscape Ecology Lab, is unified by a curiosity of understanding the impact of human activities on landscape dynamics. They are interested in the implications of landscape change on ecological processes as well as on the ecosystem services on which society depends.
Sarah is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Associate Dean of Diversity & Inclusion for the Faculty of Forestry.

This honor is bestowed by the North American Chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology to individuals who have made outstanding contributions over a period of years to the application of the principles of landscape ecology to real-world problems.
