Intern at City of Coquitlam in Coquitlam, BC This summer, I’ve been working for the City of Coquitlam as a labourer in the roads department. Our big project this work term has been cleaning the medians on all the roads in the city. Some other tasks I have been assigned to include concrete spill removal, tree pruning, and walkway maintenance, which consists of cutting grass/weeds as well as trimming overgrown hedges/branches. Summer Student at City of Markham in Markham, ON As a part of the City of Markham’s Tree Preservation by-law team, I have a meaningful role in preserving our urban forest and promoting a greener community. Along with enforcing by-laws and ensuring proper tree care, I actively contribute to increasing canopy cover and promoting the planting of native tree species. By focusing on these efforts, we not only preserve our natural heritage but also create a healthier and more vibrant environment for all residents to enjoy.

Landscape Maintenance Team Member at Kennedy Landscaping LTD in Richmond, BC Moving into this fall term, I am continuing my work term with Kennedy Landscaping in Delta BC. Community Wildlife Resiliency Coordinator at City of Port Moody in Port Moody, BC For my final co-op work term, I had the pleasure of working as the Community Wildfire Resiliency Coordinator for Port Moody Fire Rescue. In this role, I was involved in every aspect of wildfire management and emergency response in a municipal context. Intern at SNAP in Surrey, BC This term I have been working on a variety of projects that revolve around invasive plant species removal and planting native species all around Surrey. Most of the invasives that I have been removing consist of English ivy, yellow archangel. periwinkle, and Himilayan blackberry. Assistant Forestry Technician at Strategic Natural Resource Consultants in Campbell River, BC During the second term of my 8 month Co-op with Strategic Natural Resource Consultants, I have continued contributing to a variety of Forestry related projects. I’ve spent the majority of my time conducting forest regeneration surveys, in which I help assess the health and abundance of regenerating trees in cutblocks using statistical sampling methods. During the fire season, I assisted with thermal drone scanning of wildfires for the B.C. Wildfire Service. Green Keeper at University Golf Club in Vancouver, BC This summer I worked as a greenkeeper in the maintenance department of the University Golf Club. My duties focused on mowing different lawn areas, raking bunkers, gardening, divot repair, irrigation repair, and so on.
