BSFS – Alex Fraser Research Forest, Williams Lake, BC
This summer I have been given the opportunity to work at UBC’s Alex Fraser Research Forest. This job has given me so many chances to learn and practice tasks involved in forestry operations, planning, and silviculture. Some of theses duties include road traverses, block layout, regeneration surveys, stream and riparian area classification, and silviculture prescription data collection. Working for a smaller organization has helped me to learn about all of the undertakings that must be completed to manage a forest smoothly. I will reflect fondly on this summer as an excellent introduction to forestry.
