For my last coop I moved to Victoria, BC to work for Natural Resources Canada as apart of the Carbon Accounting Team and Deforestation Monitoring Team. For this role I used remote sensing tools such as ArcGIS to create a systematic process to validate afforestation data in Ontario, Canada. This data can be inputted in the Carbon Budget Model of the Canadian Forest Sector (CBM-CFS3) to simulate any effects afforestation on non-forested land (usually agricultural land) has on carbon stocks and fluxes.
