BSCN – Parks Canada, Vancouver, BC
This summer for my first Co-op work term I have been working on the Learn to Camp Team at Parks Canada. Although our job has mostly been moved online due to COVID-19 there has been plenty to do since we started in May. Most of our time has been spent considering how we can develop programming for an online format that is still engaging and valuable to the public. For the summer we have set up a green screen so that we can take advantage of delivering programs on Zoom and using the virtual background feature to deliver our programs. I have just finished writing a program about wildlife safety for families with young children. In this job I have learned a lot with regards to public speaking, writing creative programming, and inclusion in the outdoors. The things that I have learned from my supervisors and my fellow coworkers are invaluable to me and I am so grateful for the experience to work for Parks Canada.
