About MGEM
To solve the world’s biggest environmental challenges, first, you need the tools to understand them.
As the world continues to tackle issues of climate change and environmental degradation, geomatics is critical for a healthy future. Geomatics provides the tools, techniques, and datasets required to properly characterize landscapes and make informed decisions that impact environmental management.
The University of British Columbia’s Master of Geomatics for Environmental Management (MGEM) is an accelerated, 9-month, professional master’s degree program that provides the essential training needed to apply geospatial tools and equip you with the skills to plan, develop, manage, and evaluate programs that protect and regulate natural habitats and renewable natural resources.
This interdisciplinary degree blends landscape ecology training and quantitative spatial skills development to prepare graduates to tackle pressing environmental issues across multiple sectors.
