Women in Forestry Panel Discussion

Where: Forest Sciences Centre – Room 1003

In celebration of Women’s History Month, join UBC Forestry & Environmental Stewardship for a Women in Forestry event on Thursday, March 20th, 5:00-6:30pm in FSC 1003.  The event will consist of a panel discussion featuring UBC Forestry & Environmental Stewardship alumni, who will be sharing their experiences working in the broad field of Forestry, followed by a Q&A, and mingling/networking. This event is open to UBC Forestry & Environmental Stewardship students of all identities – everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

You can find a brief bio of our confirmed panelists below:

Yeganeh Asadian (BSCN, MSc, Professional Agrologist)

Yeganeh graduated from the Natural Resources Conservation program at UBC, and additionally completed her Master of Science in Hydrology from UBC. She holds a designation as a Professional Agrologist. Her work experience has included serving as a Founder of the Environmental Stewardship Department for the Musqueam Indian Band and an Instructor at Native Education College. She is currently the Manager of Climate and Environment at YVR.

Chazel Solamo (BSF, Engineer-in Training, Registered Professional Forester)

Chazel graduated from the UBC Forest Operations program with a specialization in Harvest Planning and Engineering. She has experience coordinating and supervising projects all over Northern BC, and currently works with Allnorth Consultants on a variety of projects involving remote access and land use planning, First Nations consultations, and structural bridge analysis, as well as logistics and transportation feasibility studies. She is a Registered Professional Forester and an Engineer-in-Training.

Clara Fraese (BSCW)

Clara is a Territory Manager for Weyerhaeuser Trus Joist Engineered Wood Products in British Columbia. Prior to entering sales, she worked on the manufacturing side as a Training Coordinator and Assistant Production Scheduler at Weyerhaeuser’s Parallam Plant. She is a graduate of the Wood Products Processing Program in Forestry at UBC and is currently completing a Certificate in Business Management at SFU.

Lorry Mackay (BSF, Engineer-in-Training, Forester-in-Training)

Lorry graduated from UBC’s Forest Operations program with a specialization in Harvest Planning and Engineering. She is currently a Project Manager at Newcastle Engineering Ltd., where she contributes to the design and development of civil infrastructure projects. Her experience spans design preparation, quality control, regulatory compliance, and field surveying. Prior to this role, she worked as an Infrastructure Planner, assisting in managing remote road and bridge infrastructure projects across Vancouver Island.

Molly Hudson (BSc, Registered Professional Forester, Registered Professional Biologist)

Molly holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UBC and a Diploma of Technology in Forest Ecosystems from BCIT. She has a wealth of forestry experience throughout coastal British Columbia, including overseeing forestry operations, community relations, fish and wildlife management, and species at risk programs. She is currently Vice President, Forestry & Sustainability with Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation, managing the forest tenures and forestry business of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation. She is a Registered Professional Forester and Registered Professional Biologist.
