UBC Forestry and Vantage College are co-hosting the GSO Canada-funded workshop, Universal Design in Field-Focused Experiential Learning.
Experiential Learning Workshop Details
The importance of experiential learning on student growth is well documented in STEM education literature. However, traditional perceptions of academic rigour suggest that students who are physically unable to study outside of the classroom are therefore unable to participate in field-focused learning experiences. This workshop will discuss universally-designed strategies to include students with disabilities in your classroom, laboratory and field activities.
This workshop will include a brief introduction to Universal Design for Learning in-field instruction, followed by a small group, interactive session to discuss specific course or program planning.
