“Wonders of the Salish Sea (WSS)” is an environmental adult education program in Vancouver, B.C. designed to awaken a sense of wonder in the Salish Sea ecosystem, and foster a deep connection and sense of responsibility for the place we call home. The annual program, launched in spring 2016, allows participants to discover the wonders of this uniquely biodiverse, yet fragile, marine ecosystem through the guidance of local marine scientists, naturalists, and environmentalists.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, WSS was cancelled in 2020. If offered virtually, we would need a volunteer to provide technical expertise and services, such as establishing registrant lists, and convening and hosting Zoom events. As well, the volunteer could assist in program promotion through social media.
- The program would be offered in April 2021 for 4 consecutive weeks, one evening per week for 2 ½ hours each evening.
- Expected time commitment would be 4 hours/per week prior to program start date, and 4 – 6 hours per week during the program dates.
This volunteer position may be of interest to someone who would like to learn more about our marine environment, environmental advocacy, or community based education; however, interest in or knowledge of marine sciences is not a requirement for the position.
