Program Instructors

Hana Mohammadi is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia, specializing in life cycle assessment (LCA) and low-carbon fuels. She is an environmental engineer with extensive experience evaluating the carbon intensity of fuels and biofuel policies, including serving as a lead author on International Energy Agency (IEA) reports on biofuel policies. Hana works closely with industry, government, and academic partners to support evidence-based decision-making for clean energy and climate policy initiatives. Her collaborations include supporting LCA work with Parkland Refinery, contributing to transportation sector decarbonization through the BC Bioenergy Network and BC-SMART Consortium, and working with the National Research Council (NRC) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) on LCA studies and platform development.

Jermin Hsieh is a Professional Engineer with over 10 years of experience in Clean Energy. He works at FortisBC and is responsible for compliance of renewable fuels under different regulatory frameworks including the BC Low Carbon Fuel Standard and the Canada Clean Fuel Regulation. Jermin also serves as a member on the Steering Committee for the development of Canada’s first biomethane registry, the Canada Low Emissions Energy Registry (CLEER), where he provides his expertise in chain of custody and tracking of Environmental Attributes.
