How to Apply to our Undergraduate Programs

Program options

When you complete your online application, you will be asked to select your first and second program choice. The Faculty of Forestry has 3 programs (degrees) to choose from:

1. Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources (BSNR)

Choose this program if you are interested in one of the following majors:
Bioeconomy Sciences and Technology
Conservation
Forest Management
Forest Operations
Forest Sciences
Wood Products

How do I declare my major?

Your first year in the BSNR degree will consists of a common set of courses in addition to a few you select as part of the Major you are intending to follow. You will be asked to formally declare your Major at the beginning of your second year. An academic advisor from Forestry will contact you to assist with the declaration process.

2. Bachelor of Indigenous Land Stewardship (BILS)

Choose this program if you want to become a land steward by combining Indigenous knowledge, governance, and sustainability through culturally appropriate, interdisciplinary education led by Indigenous scholars and allies.

3. Bachelor of Urban Forestry (BUF)

Choose this program if you have a passion for the urban environment and want to learn more about sustainability, green space planning, and nature in the city.

Land One option in first year

Land One is jointly offered by the Faculty of Land and Food Systems and the Faculty of Forestry. You can choose this option after you are admitted to either Faculty. Choose this option for a small, supportive cohort, personalized guidance, and hands-on learning through field trips, preparing you for complex issues in forestry and land and food systems.

After you have submitted your application, UBC will email you to let you know how and when to submit your documents. Be sure to do this before your specific deadlines. These required documents vary depending on where you are applying from and other factors. The required documents could include

  • International Baccalaureate results
  • Advanced Placement exam results
  • Proof of English language competency
  • Post-secondary transcripts
