Alex Fraser Research Forest, Williams Lake, BC
The month of May has flown by here at the Alex Fraser Research Forest. Research plot boundary marking, road and culvert maintenance, stick nest surveys, planting and regeneration surveys, and tree selection for thinning are just a few of the activities that have kept myself and fellow UBC co-op student Marie-Eve Leclerc busy. I spend almost every day out in one of the two forest blocks belonging to the Research Forest in the beautiful countryside surrounding Williams Lake; B.C. June is promising to bring even more opportunities to apply skills learned in the classroom to the field. It is shaping up to be a very exciting summer co-op term!
