Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) – Vancouver, BC
For the past two months I have been working at SPEC as an Urban Agriculture Facilitator. I have been teaching children from school daycares how to garden from planting, watering and of course, harvesting! All of these schools are part of the School Gardens Program, which educates children about urban food growing through agriculture lessons in the classroom to hands on activities in the garden. This has been an enriching experience as I get to share my passion for organic agriculture with little garden helpers. From this Co-op experience, I have had the opportunity to expand upon my agricultural skills while also engaging children with little or no gardening knowledge, making this program truly SPECtacular!
