Silviculture Worker at J.D. Fournier Consulting in Salmon Arm, BC

UBC Forestry Co-op student, Angelo Chang, is standing next to fallen wood with a tool in hand.

For my 4th co-op term, I worked under J.D. Fournier Consulting in Salmon Arm, BC. J.D. Fournier Consulting focuses on analyzing and conducting silviculture tasks in areas surrounding Salmon Arm, working with forestry companies such as Interfor. My position as a Silviculture Worker is primarily focused on brushing in various cutblocks. The cutblocks are located in a variety of locations, such as Sicamous, Clearwater and Three Valley Gap. This position gave me firsthand experience in partaking in the silviculture process and local-scale knowledge on how the forestry industry functions across British Columbia. The position also provided valuable transferable skills such as handling power tools in a forestry capacity and in a field environment.

I recommend Co-Op for any forestry students wishing for a hands-on, practical and professional application of the very subject we learned in a classroom.
