Summerland Research and Development Centre

Candy Lo

My second co-op position took me to the Summerland Research and Development Centre, where I provided research assistance in applied ecological projects of a major invasive insect pest. I was responsible for deploying, monitoring and maintaining insect traps and emergence cages. When I was not in the field, I had the opportunity to compile and summarize numerical and spatial data. Not only did I expand my skill sets, I also had a taste of what research is like while working in government setting. The most valuable part, however, was the mentorships I have received and the friendships I have established at the research centre. As Co-op is a great way to explore interests and passions, it is excellent for meeting people and I am excited to see where it takes me next!
