Geographic Information Systems Technician at the Government of Saskatchewan in Prince Albert, SK

For my second co-op, I have been working as a Geographic Information Systems Technician at the Government of Saskatchewan under the Ministry of Environment. I spend most of my time working with Saskatchewan’s forestry spatial data using ArcGIS Pro to create maps such as regeneration assessment reviews, mushroom maps to find morels, and harvest overlays. These are used either internally, by the private sector, or the public. I’ve also done field work with the silviculture team and learnt how to ride an ATV! This co-op term has been such an incredible learning experience and a fantastic way to gain more work experience. I would highly recommend co-op as an opportunity to connect with others in your field and to explore your career options.
