Catherine Thompson

I am enjoying my summer work term with the Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) as their Water Wise Outreach Coordinator. I work with the Water Wise team to inform Langley residents about the summer time sprinkling regulations and promote municipal water conservation. In May, I delivered 20 workshops to different Langley elementary schools about groundwater and the importance of water conservation. In June, we are attending community events to provide outreach and discussion to the community. In July and August, we will deliver brochures about the water regulations. I have also had an opportunity to try other fields within LEPS: I have done water quality sampling at a local creek and delivered presentations about gardening. I value my time understanding the needs and day to day functioning of an environmental non-profit as well learning how to communicate with our local community partners like the municipal government, other non-profits and schools.
