Wells Gray Community Forest Corporation – Clearwater, BC
My summer to date has been spent in the woods surrounding the beautiful and endearing town of Clearwater, BC. As a forestry co-op student working for the Wells Gray Community Forest Corporation, I have had the chance to see and experience snippets from various aspects of forest harvesting – from the early stages of block layout all the way to reaching free to grow status. So far, I have spent the majority of my time in the field, conducting surveys to ensure that regenerating trees meet standards that will promote a healthy future forest. Maintenance work, including brushing, grass seeding and road upkeep, is also part of the job. I hope to continue learning as much as I have in the remaining weeks of this co-op work term.
