Suncor, Calgary, Alberta
I have been working with Suncor Energy Inc. for 6 months now. I started my term in January in Fort McMurray, however the Alberta wildfires in May have relocated me to Suncor’s offices in Calgary until the end of my term in December. Though I am in a different place, I am able to continue my work within Environmental Affairs, which provides support to various Oil Sands operation areas in order to meet environmental regulatory requirements. I work closely with a team of environmental advisors and wildlife specialists to support Suncor’s Wildlife Mitigation Program, Environmental Stewardship and liaison with the Alberta Energy Regulator. Undoubtedly, this year has been a roller-coaster for the oil and gas industry, myself included, but this fast-paced, dynamic environment has been a fantastic learning opportunity and unforgettable experience.
