Forestry Technician at Lil’wat Forestry Ventures in Whistler, Canada
Forestry Technician with Lil’wat forestry ventures, managing cut blocks for an indigenous-owned forestry company in the Lil̓wat7úl Nation. This placement was my first co-op term and allowed me to experience a variety of different positions in commercial forestry, as well as being able to directly learn from experienced foresters and members of the community who offered important perspectives on both combining western forestry practices and their own community values. During my time with the company, I was able to participate in a variety of projects including tree planting and regeneration surveys, as well as fuels management and type 3 wildland firefighting. Being part of the LFV team helped me expand my horizons, and I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of such an inspiring company.
