My work term at the Burns Bog Conservation Society has been so surreal. Not only did I learn a lot from the amazing people I worked alongside, I also got to apply my knowledge learned through my degree to help maintain a sensitive ecosystem and teach others about its importance. During this work term, I created educational material for the annual summer day camps, through this I was able to create material that incorporated aspects of my degree.

This experience allowed for me to create connections with various companies and municipalities such as Metro Vancouver with whom I worked alongside to create permit plans for the day camps. These permit plans played a critical role as we had to research what areas the kids could experience the bog to its fullest without impacting the ecosystem.

Co-op gave me the opportunity to take what I learned in the classroom and apply that knowledge to the outside world, which was a surreal opportunity.
