WOOD – West Fraser Laminated Veneer Lumber
This summer I worked at West Fraser Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) in Rocky Mountain House and learned about the process of producing LVL. I had the chance to experience all aspects of the Quality Control Division, including testing the LVL strength properties similar to the labs that we have done in school. I conducted several cost recover studies where I could showcase skills and knowledge that I have acquired at UBC. The mentorship, guidance and advice that I have received from the people who have been a part of the company for many years has created an enriching learning environment. The seeds of support, knowledge and encouragement that my supervisor has provided have sprouted and are ready to bloom when I return to UBC in the Fall.
