Mayne Island Conservancy Society – Mayne Island, BC
As the summer co-op students for the Mayne Island Conservancy, we have been working on a variety of tasks from educating local community members to doing terrestrial and marine surveys. Here we are pictured performing a bull kelp survey in the waters surrounding Mayne Island. Mapping of these beds has been recorded since 2008 and our work will help kelp bed related research. We have also been involved with the Society’s annual photo monitoring program for ecological restoration and have been re-vamping the program methods and instructions for future years.
