Co-op Student at Lil’wat Business Group in Mount Currie, Canada
In the summer of 2021, I worked for Lil’wat Forestry Ventures, an indigenous-owned company. There, I was privileged to learn how their ancestral practices intertwined with their goals as a business. All profits from their operations benefitted the community and are an important source of income.
As a summer student, I got to learn everything from firefighting to silvicultural surveys. It was a truly remarkable experience, and I am very happy to be part of UBC’s Forestry Co-op!
