Tina Friesen (Forest Sciences)

Field Team Member at Surrey Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP) in Surrey, BC

UBC Forestry Co-op Student, Tina Friesen, is posing next to grass and a fence.

This summer I have been working with Surrey Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP) as a field team member. So far I have been learning about proper ways to manage the many different invasive plants in Surrey Parks. I have also been doing park maintenance, such as maintaining trees and constructing fences, with future plans to use power tools for trail maintenance. The diversity of invasive plants and parks I work at, plus all of my work being outside has been very enjoyable. I couldn’t recommend the SNAP program enough for forestry students. This is my third co-op term, and each one has been geared to students learning as much as possible, and I found them all through co-op!
