Décor Cabinets – Morden, MB
I have been at Décor Cabinets for five months. In that time, I have been assigned a variety of ongoing projects, ranging from process improvement, tooling changes and documentation of standard operating procedures. About a third of my time is spent on the shop floor observing work processes, identifying issues and performing tests. The rest of my work is office based, doing research and analyzing results. My favorite project is the material yield improvement project which largely involved VBA programming. Through collection of in-house raw lumber and cutting data, two sets of programming were created in order to optimize the cutting solutions based on the lumber width. Thanks to co-op, I am gaining practical experience that will help me in my career.
