UBC Forestry Co-op Student Winnie Hsiao standing in the Forest during her work term.

For my first work term, I worked with Khowutzun Forest Services in Duncan, BC as an Assistant Field Forester. During my time there, I performed various field tasks, mostly focusing on completing silviculture surveys, which help dictate forest management decisions. By doing surveys, I have learned to collect and compile important information about forest health and productivity, which has taught me so much about ecology, interactions, soil, and forest management. I am so grateful for the amazing opportunity I had to work for KFS, which has definitely helped shape my ideas about my future career in forestry going forward.g for the CWS was an excellent and treasured opportunity.
