For my first co-op work term I worked with APP China Forestry, one of the largest pulp and paper companies in the world. APP China is committed to sustainable harvesting in the industry. Throughout my work term, I became more familiar with forest certifications and forest management policies as they relate to conservation. Part of my job was to assist forest farms to be re-certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and to pass the examination by the Rainforest Alliance. When I was in forest farms working with audit teams, I got to know more about forest certification procedures and their main focuses. It was my pleasure to work with APP China Forestry and I think this was an excellent opportunity to learn and to experience a different culture.
