Safety, Quality Control & Production Technician Co-op at Interfor in Castlegar, BC
I have spent my first work term in the shipping department for Interfor at their Castlegar division. During my work term, I had the pleasure to be mentored by their shipping supervisor who has been teaching me the technical, logistics, and communication aspects of shipping.
Some of the things I have been able to do in my first work term are learning to complete domestic and US customs paperwork using Interfor’s lumber management systems. Learning to create instructive loading diagrams for forklift operators on how to load trucks and rail cars. I have had the opportunity to present during meetings and lead crew safety meetings.
During my work term, I have also found time to complete some small projects such as removing a bug from their rail car loading diagram software in Excel VBA.
