Hello MUFL Students & Alumni!
We are excited to share that the MUFL Program will be taking students and alumni on a journey to explore urban forestry in Melbourne, Australia, followed by attending the ISA Annual International Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand, from October 20-22, 2025. This optional student trip will take place from Monday, October 13th to Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025.
For the first time, we are thrilled to extend this opportunity to MUFL alumni as well! The estimated cost for alumni participation is approximately $2,200 CAD.
UBC will cover the following expenses for participating students:
- Shared Accommodation throughout the trip
- Conference registration fees
- Airfare between Melbourne, AUS and Christchurch, NZ
- Public transportation costs related to student activities and experiences
Students/Alumni will be responsible for arranging their travel to Melbourne, Australia, and their return from Christchurch, New Zealand, as well as any personal expenses not covered above (including meals and extracurricular activities). We have a limited number of travel vouchers available and current students can apply to provide additional financial support. Please reach out to us if you’re interested in applying.
Student activities will begin on the evening of Monday, October 13th, so we kindly request that students plan to arrive in Melbourne by Monday afternoon at the latest to ensure a smooth start to the trip.

Important Notes:
- Students beginning the MUFL program in July 2025 are welcome to participate, but they will be responsible for the full cost of the trip and must register through the alumni registration form.
- Students who have participated in a previous MUFL trip will also need to pay the full cost and register through the alumni registration form.
- Students who have not participated in a previous MUFL Trip may register under Current Students.
