The Faculty of Forestry offers excellent courses and cutting-edge research across a spectrum of disciplines related to forestry, and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. Graduate students work with leading scientists in state-of-the-art facilities within the Forest Sciences Centre and at either of two research forests. Our Forestry Graduate Program offers several kinds of degrees:
Thesis-Based Degrees
Master your field of study by investing in a research-intensive program designed by you. Research students are supervised by world-renowned faculty with a wide variety of opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Dual Master’s Degree
In two years, earn a Master of Forestry (MF) degree from UBC and a master’s degree from one of five participating universities in Europe. The TRANSFOR-M (Transatlantic Forestry Master), is a unique dual degree program that offers qualified students the opportunity to explore forestry in both Europe and Canada.
Forestry Graduate Certificate Programs
We have now officially launched our newest program with the Graduate Certificate in Forest Management and Conservation (GCFMC). With the first class to begin in September 2021, this certificate offers graduates the opportunity to take credit courses in a customizable format that can take their careers to the next level.
Professional Master’s Degrees
As a Professional Master’s student, you will learn from world-leading faculty members and experienced industry professionals. Deepen your technical skills, hone your leadership abilities, and expand your networks, while completing a non-thesis master’s degree in 14 months or less.
