The UBC Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship addresses global challenges of aquatic habitat loss, animal movement barriers, over-harvesting, and climate change impacting biodiversity. This group examines effects of land-use, human actions and infrastructure on aquatic systems, and they work with diverse stakeholders, rightsholders and agencies to co-produce research to help solve real-world problems.
Examples of our research
- Fish ecology and behaviour
- Stream restoration and ecology
- Restoring aquatic biodiversity through informed decision-making
- Climate change effects on aquatic ecosystems
- Indigenous land and water governance
- Historical dynamics of large river-floodplains
