Dr. Trevor Gareth Jones, FCM Lead Instructor / FCMo Program Advisor

Dr. Trevor Gareth Jones is the lead developer and instructor of the FCM program with support from colleagues in the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship and experts across all sectors, as well as the Program Advisor of the FCMo program. Trevor has worked extensively on forest carbon projects around the world and has a long track record of developing and delivering educational materials (including University-level courses, training sessions, and workshops) related to program topics. He is the Blue Forests & Geospatial Adviser for the marine conservation NGO Blue Ventures, and the Forest Carbon Science Lead at Tayo Climate Partners. Trevor holds a B.A. in Geography and an M.A. in GIS from Clark University and a Ph.D. in Forest Resources Management from the Integrated Remote Sensing Studio in the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship at the University of British Columbia.

Kyle Melnick, FCMo Lead Instructor / FCM Assistant Instructor

Kyle Melnick

Kyle Melnick is the lead developer and instructor of the FCMo program with support from colleagues in the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship and experts across all sectors, and is also the assistant instructor of the FCM program. He is a specialist in remote sensing, forest carbon modeling, and the assessment of nature-based climate solutions across a range of Canadian ecosystems. As a forest carbon consultant, he has extensive experience working with Canadian carbon data and the application of forest carbon modeling tools and methodologies within forest carbon projects and sustainable forest management. He holds a B.A. in Cognitive Systems and a Master’s in Geomatics for Environmental Management from the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship at the University of British Columbia.
