Trevor Jones

Dr. Trevor Gareth Jones

Dr. Trevor Gareth Jones is the lead developer and instructor of the FCM program with support from colleagues in the Faculty of Forestry and experts across all sectors. Trevor has worked extensively on forest carbon projects around the world and also has a long track record of developing and delivering educational materials (including University-level courses, training sessions, and workshops) related to program topics. Currently, he is the Forest Carbon & Geospatial Scientist for Ostrom Climate Solutions and the Blue Forests & Geospatial Adviser for Blue Ventures. Trevor holds a B.A. in Geography and an M.A. in GIS from Clark University and a Ph.D. in Forest Resources Management from the Integrated Remote Sensing Studio in the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia.

Kyle Melnick

Kyle Melnick

Kyle Melnick is the assistant instructor and co-developer of the FCM program. Kyle is a geospatial data scientist with an extensive background in data analytics and information design spanning the fields of aerospace, healthcare, and environmental management. An experienced cinematographer and science communicator, he has worked on documentary films across the country exploring the sustainable development challenges of Canadian communities. Kyle currently works for Coldstream Nature-Based Solutions where he is supporting the adoption of nature-based climate solutions through the development of assessment, monitoring and educational tools. He holds a B.A. in Cognitive Systems and a Master’s in Geomatics for Environmental Management from the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia.
