UBC Forestry wishes to congratulate Professor and Dean Dr. Robert Kozak for being named as the recipient of an honorary doctorate in Agriculture and Forestry from the University of Helsinki, Finland’s oldest and largest higher education institution.
This honorary doctorate follows a number of notable awards and distinctions received by Dean Kozak, the most recent being the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Scientific Achievement Award in 2014 and the UBC Killam Teaching Prize (latter awarded twice). Dean Kozak will be presented with this latest honour at a conferment ceremony in Spring 2022.
Dean Kozak’s Career with UBC Forestry
Having first achieved a BSc and a PhD in Forestry from UBC, Dean Kozak’s career since has focused primarily on sustainable development, wood products and the conservation economy. Prior to his assignment as the Dean of UBC Forestry in 2021, Dean Kozak first served as the UBC Forestry Head of the Department of Wood Science for five years before moving on to his role as Associate Dean, Academic in July 2016.
About the Awards
The title of doctor honoris causa is the University of Helsinki’s highest recognition. For this year’s awards, a total of 30 distinguished scholars from around the world will be conferred as honorary doctors during four conferment ceremonies in Spring 2022.
