Congratulations Taraneh Sowlati on being awarded the Faculty of Forestry Excellence in Graduate Supervision Award for 2025!

Taraneh Sowlati

This award recognizes Taraneh as an exceptional role model and mentor. Taraneh has mentored over 50 graduate students and postdocs over her career thus far.

Student letters universally noted her deep and meaningful engagement with their work, her extraordinary support in helping them achieve their unique professional and personal goals, and her ability and willingness to open doors for students to expand their professional networks, including through her collaborations with industry partners.

Other hallmarks of Taraneh’s outstanding mentorship include her inclusive approach and support for a diverse research group that intentionally seeks to overcome gender inequities in the traditionally male-dominated field of industrial engineering.
