MGEM Best in Class Awards – 2024/25

May 20, 2025 | Author: UBC Forestry

Each year two graduating students in the Master of Geomatics for Environmental Management (MGEM) program will be selected for the MGEM Best in Class Awards. The recipients have demonstrated outstanding leadership and teamwork skills during their studies and show exceptional career promise in the field of Geomatics.

Congratulations to the 2024/25 recipients of the MGEM Best in Class Awards!

1st Place: Sadie Russell

Sadie Russell

Throughout her time as an MGEM student Sadie Russell exemplified what it means to be a top MGEM student. Sadie shows an extraordinary commitment to learning through the development of her own capstone project topic, taking on TA’ships and working as a research assistant, all on top of the MGEM standard workload. Despite the workload Sadie also was on the MGEM snacks and refreshment committee and quick to help plan MGEM group outings. In addition, she achieved academic excellence. Sadie’s presence in the classroom was always supportive and she constantly made the classroom a better place.

2nd Place: Nan Wang

Nan Wang

Beyond achieving academic excellence, Nan was highlighted by her peers because of her willingness to share her knowledge and professional experience. She came into the program with a strong professional background and was always willing to share the tips and tricks she had. Nan was someone who brought people together in the classroom space and had a positive impact on the class!
