Read/Watch/Listen

Welcome to the Faculty of Forestry’s Read/Watch/Listen list for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI)! Our team compiled resources for people both within and outside the UBC Faculty of Forestry to engage in self-directed learning related to JEDI issues.

We have hand-picked resources that focus on themes of JEDI in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), academia, or the broader environmental field. Though we believe that this list is a good start, we acknowledge that it is not comprehensive and does not come close to covering every important JEDI-related topic. Fortunately, we have many options to choose from for important and educational JEDI content. As you spend time engaging with the resources, please consider filling out this survey about what you liked, didn’t like, and any ideas you have for improvements. We are committed to reviewing feedback and updating the list at the beginning of each new semester, or as soon as possible if there is an urgent issue.

Lastly, please remember that these resources could be difficult to engage with if you are a person with lived experience connected to the topics. The Faculty of Forestry and UBC have supports available for students, staff, and Faculty members that feel triggered by the content listed here. For resources specific to Indigenous members of the Faculty of Forestry, please see the UBC Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies Wellness Resources page.

Note for Forestry Faculty: Engaging with the resources on this list can be included in your annual EDI report.
