In The Spotlight: Tzeng Yih Lam


Tzeng Yih Lam joins the UBC Faculty of Forestry as an Assistant Professor of Forest Measurements in the Department of Forest Resources Management. His research interests are tree measurement, forest sampling, and quantitative silviculture.

Peter Wood joins the Faculty of Forestry at UBC as a lecturer and coordinator for the Master of International Forestry (MIF) program. He has worked in the field of international forest policy, human rights and sustainability for over two decades in a variety of roles.

Tahia Devisscher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forest Resources Management and focuses on how to manage forests and other green spaces in and around cities to support human well-being and build social-ecological resilience to climate change. She is interested in developing practical strategies to address the increasing disconnect between people and nature caused by rapid urbanization.

Haibo Feng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Wood Science at UBC. His research area focuses on green building, building information modelling, life cycle assessment and building energy performance. He has extensive industrial and research experience in promoting sustainable building construction with the integration of advanced building systems and renewable energy supports.

Jaya Joshi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Wood Science at UBC. Her research focuses on improving the yield and nutritional values of crops, guided by the aim of successful implementation of carbon farming by 2050.

In the Spotlight: Dr. Alex Moore

Dr. Alex Moore is an Assistant Professor at UBC, jointly appointed to the faculties of Forestry and Science. Their research focuses on how predator-prey interactions impact coastal wetland ecosystems and explores culture's role in ecosystem restoration and conservation. Through their work, Dr. Moore seeks to directly engage with communities historically marginalized in STEM fields and encourage people to reconnect with their environment.
