Ainsley Hannah (Natural Resources Conservation)

Assistant Field Forester at Creston Community Forest in Creston, BC

UBC Forestry Co-op Student, Ainsley Hannah, is standing in a forest.

I am really enjoying my first work term with Creston Community Forest, and it has given me the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. I learned how to perform an array of silviculture surveys, helped with planting quality checks, and learned forestry basics such as how to carry out a timber cruise. During my work term I also had the opportunity to help some of Creston Community Forest’s contractors with projects such as tree planting and trail maintenance. While most of the work is in the field, I am also working on projects in the office such as creating information boards for local hiking trails. This work term I also learned more about community forests and their roles and responsibilities. Overall, this opportunity has been a great way for me to get hands on experience in the forestry industry and learn more about what future careers I may be interested in.
