Prana Kurnia Eriyan (Natural Resources Conservation)

Intern at PT. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur in Vancouver, BC

UBC Forestry Co-op student, Prana Kurnia Eriyan, is showcasing a SMI Zero Emissions Plan that he devised.

In my co-op term in PT SMI, I was assigned to work on various tasks related to assessing and evaluating the environmental impacts of different infrastructure projects throughout Indonesia. One of my most notable assignments was when I was assigned to plan the company’s zero-net emissions forestry program, a reforestation program that aims to completely offset the company’s (and invested infrastructure projects’) CO2 emissions. This assignment allowed me to apply what I learned from different forestry and non-forestry courses, adapting what I learned from international sources for the situation in Indonesia. I also learned to effectively work and communicate in professional, online working environments with a huge time difference, further making me into a more adaptable individual.
