The highlight of the major in Science and Management is the Integrated Field School, which students take in their fourth year. During the semester-long field school, students work and learn in three different ecosystems in British Columbia; alpine, grassland and aquatic. Leading conservation experts provide detailed field and seminar instruction. Students learn to conduct, analyze, interpret and write-up basic field research. They perform land-use planning exercises and apply different restoration methods and strategies in a field context. Students gain a hands-on understanding of the biological and social aspects of conservation problems and successful conservation strategies.
