This summer, I’ve been working with Palandri Cabinets & Interior Finishing in Regina, Saskatchewan, as a cabinet designer/maker. Palandri specializes in designing and manufacturing high-quality cabinetry using advanced technology for efficient production.

Wood Products Manufacturing Analyst – Triforest Manufacturing Inc.

During my work, I held the position of quality inspector. My main work consisted of performing experiments and quality inspections. Every day I measured the length and width of the board, checked whether the color was correct, and whether there was a difference between the height of the board.

Project Management Co-op Student – Mercer International Inc.

This summer I have been working at Mercer Mass Timber as a Project Coordinator in Okanagan Falls, BC. I have been able to work closely with two project managers on a variety of projects, from small to large. A few tasks that I have helped with been involved with are scheduling, procurement, and compiling submittal information.

I have been working as a Lab and Field Assistant for the TreeRing lab at UBC, where I had the opportunity to delve into post-wildfire assessments. My role involved collecting wildfire-related data, such as examining surface sub-canopy vegetation, assessing surface fuels, and evaluating the health status of trees.

Building Services Group Intern – FPInnovations

During my second and third Co-op work terms, I worked with the Building Systems group at a non-profit research organization. Some of the projects and tasks I worked on are conducting destructive and nondestructive tests on lumber, cutting wood samples and determining moisture content/specific gravity, and many more.

During my 8-month co-op term at Canfor Pulp Innovation in Burnaby, I stepped into the multifaceted world of the pulp industry as a Laboratory Assistant. This experience significantly broadened my understanding of both the scientific and operational aspects of pulp production.
