Quality Control Assistant – Gilbert Smith Forest Products

During my work term at Gilbert Smith Forest Products, I have been involved in several projects focused on process optimization, automation, and technology development within a cedar lumber manufacturing environment.

Research Assistant – University of British Columbia

I have been working on a variety of wood product testing and research projects during my co-op term, with a focus on evaluating the mechanical performance of lumber and glulam.

Co-op Student – Merit Kitchens

My co-op at Merit Kitchens has been a really rewarding experience because it connects directly to what I’m studying in Wood Products Processing. I work with the Engineering team and support my manager with project management tasks and day-to-day engineering workflows to help reduce recurring issues.

Research Assistant – Sustainable Built Environment Lab, UBC

I had the opportunity to continue the light frame wood construction project at UBC’s Sustainable Built Environment Lab. In this phase, I focused on timber-to-timber connection systems and how they might support more reversible construction.

Quality Control Lead – West Fraser

I am currently completing my final co-op term at West Fraser’s Cochrane Sawmill, working as the Sawmill Quality Control. In this role, I help monitor and maintain the accuracy of lumber grading and scanning systems to ensure consistent product quality.
