Trimble Technology Lab
“The Trimble Technology Lab at UBC gives students and researchers access to some of the most sought-after digital tools that are being integrated into forestry practices across the industry,” says Prof. and Canada Research Chair in Remote Sensing Nicholas Coops.
Beyond Measure: Professor Peter Marshall
A captivation with the outdoors attracted Prof. Emeritus Peter Marshall to forestry, but a love of teaching kept him transfixed for over four decades. A much-beloved professor of forest measurements and biometrics – and recipient of the ABCFP Distinguished Forest Professional award – Peter shares what he learned throughout his career and his enduring passion for the profession.
Rising to the challenges in Hydrology
Piotr Kuraś has seen water resource studies increasingly focus on climate change adaptation over the years. The UBC Forestry grad, who started as a research scientist, is now a consultant and principal with Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC), where he provides clients with current information on various water resource disciplines.
Improving Forest Management with Mathematical Modelling
A team led by the UBC Faculty of Forestry has upgraded the free version of a mathematical modelling tool that could ultimately improve forest management through improved decisions. With these changes, the updated tool is now an open-source resource, independent of all commercial software.
